Why lab-grown opens up customisation
Traditional engagement ring buying often involves a compromise: stretch your budget on the diamond and settle for a simpler setting, or find a smaller stone to afford the ring design you actually want. Lab-grown diamonds largely eliminate that trade-off. With a 40–60% cost reduction on the stone itself, there's more room to invest in the surrounding design.
Metal choices
At Una Diamond, every ring is made in solid 18K gold or platinum — no gold plating, no lower-karat alloys that wear faster. The metal choices available are 18K yellow gold, 18K white gold, 18K rose gold, and platinum. Each has a different look, durability profile, and maintenance requirement.
- 18K yellow gold — warm, classic, complements oval and emerald cuts particularly well. Does develop a patina over time, which many people appreciate.
- 18K white gold — cool and contemporary. Requires rhodium re-plating every few years to maintain its bright white finish.
- 18K rose gold — softer and more romantic. Distinctive and increasingly popular for signet styles and east-west settings.
- Platinum — the most durable and naturally white. Heavier than gold, develops a satin patina rather than scratching. The premium choice for longevity.
Carat and shape
Lab-grown production has made a wider range of carat sizes genuinely accessible. Our rings are available from 1ct to 5ct — and because lab-grown pricing is more predictable and scalable, stepping up from a 1ct to a 2ct stone doesn't require a dramatic budget jump.
Shape matters too. Oval cuts elongate the finger and look larger for their carat weight. Emerald cuts are architectural and understated. Marquise cuts are dramatic and distinctive. The right shape depends on the hand, the style, and — if it's a surprise — what you know about your partner's aesthetic.
Engraving
Every Una Diamond ring includes complimentary engraving. It can be added at checkout — a date, initials, a phrase, or something private. It's the detail most people remember wearing.
